It is with great sadness that we must announce the death on Saturday 29th January of LTE Scientific’s Chairman, Colin Perry. He was 81.
Colin took over the ownership of LTE Scientific in 1992 and had remained active within the business right up until his untimely death. He was instrumental in developing not only LTE’s growth but also the market sectors it now serves.
Outside of LTE Colin had also led a very active life, serving as President of GAMBICA, the UK trade association for laboratory technology, and key roles within the CBI, namely Chairman of the CBI West Midlands and also Chairman of the CBI SME Council. He was a member of the Financial Reporting Council which regulates accounting and auditing standards, and was also a member of the Small Business Council created in the Tony Blair government in 2000. The most important one though was his involvement with the Company Law Review, which instigated the first review and changes to legislation in company law for 40 years.
Colin’s career before LTE moved from marketing to senior board roles and investor in a number of UK and US companies, including a long period as Managing Director and Chairman with Birmingham Mint Group plc.
Outside of work Colin was until recently still regularly riding his horse. He enjoyed racing and was for many years an owner and part owner of a number of racehorses.
LTE’s Managing Director, John Lees said of Colin “Colin’s advice, guidance and unstinting support of LTE are what helped make us the Company we are today. Many of us have worked with Colin for the whole time he owned LTE and I speak for everyone here when I say he will be greatly missed”.
