Frequently Asked Questions
What type of water should be used in a steam generator?
This will ultimately depend on the requirement of the steam quality required.
As a minimum for the protection of the generator elements, the following guidance should be adhered to.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions as this will inform you of the correct type of water and pH levels required.
LTE steam generators require water supplied to be of no greater hardness than 50ppm at a regular acidity level of pH 7.5 (+/- 0.5pH). In areas with hard water, we can provide water softeners to regulate pH levels.
How often should a steam generator be maintained?
We would advise that you get your steam generator professionally serviced alongside your autoclave either twice a year or annually. Our service engineers will check all connections and electricals for safety and ensure the generator is working optimally.
Why is my steam generator not working correctly?
If your steam generator is not working correctly this could be the result of component failure, typically a fault with the steam valve, boiler or the pump. We would advise getting a professional engineer like an LTE service engineer to inspect the machine to pinpoint and fix the issue.
