LTE Expands It’s Engineering Services & Customer Support

Service EngineerUK-based autoclave and laboratory equipment manufacturer LTE Scientific has expanded its nation-wide services with additional field-based engineers, a new training centre offering bespoke training courses and enhanced customer support systems.

LTE’s core activities are the design, manufacturing and installation of equipment for medical, commercial laboratory, dental and veterinary sectors.

Products include autoclaves, washer disinfectors, endoscope storage cabinets, medical solution and blanket-warming cabinets, ovens, incubators, drying cabinets, environmental rooms and freeze dryers.

LTE’s complementary range of engineering, training and customer support services has grown significantly and now accounts for around one-third of turnover.

In the health sector, in addition to repairs and installation of equipment, LTE offers service and testing to HTM0101 parts C & D & HTM 0106 for the storage cabinets.

For the scientific sector, where clients include universities, research establishments and testing laboratories serving industries such as food, packaging, agriculture, beverages and water, LTE’s services are accredited to UKAS (ISO 17025) covering temperature, pressure & time.

The company’s team of field engineers are fully-trained to service, validate and repair most makes and types of medical and scientific laboratory equipment.

Kim Cooper, LTE’s Finance and Service Director, said: “We currently have a network of 14 field-based engineers across the UK, covering Scotland to the south of England. We’ve expanded and invested in this team by recruiting two new engineers in the past 12 months and are looking to expand further by recruiting two more engineers.

“For hospitals we offer service and testing of autoclaves washers and endoscope storage equipment for compliance with government Health Technical Memoranda (HTM). By recruiting skilled engineers who have been trained on other manufacturers’ equipment, this type of work has expanded significantly.

“We ensure our engineers have comprehensive spares, so they can carry out a first time fix whenever possible, and when we take on a new service contract on another manufacturers’ equipment, we ensure we are able to source and carry appropriate parts. We do not fit used or second-hand parts.”

“LTE differs from many other service providers because we also manufacture equipment and components. So, we can utilise our manufacturing department’s skills and facilities, including our design and IT software engineering teams, to support our customers and service engineers.”

To compliment the service expansion, LTE has developed a training centre at its Greater Manchester manufacturing site. This is fitted with a range of equipment set out to represent realistic operational conditions.

LTE customers can receive bespoke training courses at the centre. Courses include first-line maintenance for estates staff, operator training including efficient use of the autoclave, such as best practise for loading and equipment testing.

Kim added: “It is very important for clients to understand the test results and reports, so they can interpret results correctly. Our tailored courses serve a range of customer needs and can be done at our own training centre or on-location at the customer’s site.”

In addition to its growing engineering support, LTE has enhanced its administration team and IT system which logs all customer calls and stores the service history of all equipment. We use a field-based service management system which ensures efficient response, repair and sign-off for clients.

Technical Support Manager Lee Kershaw, who is also part of the team based in the factory, is available to offer telephone and onsite support to both our engineers and customers so expert engineering advice is always available.

LTE Appoints India and South-East Asia Exports Manager

LTE Scientific has appointed an area export manager for India and South-East Asia, further expanding its global activities.

Ashim Chakravarty is based in Kolkata, India, and is LTE Scientific’s first-ever full-time area manager specifically employed in the region.

Ashim has 20 years of professional experience from working in the life sciences industry. Before joining LTE Scientific he spent 13 years with a UK spectrophotometer manufacturer.

LTE Scientific managing director John Lees said: “Ashim is an important and strategic appointment for us and we are delighted to welcome him.  He will establish an important full-time presence for us in India and South-East Asia. Ashim’s appointment will ensure that we are fully represented in the Region as our business expands further.

“Ashim will encourage growth through our existing distributor network and also identify new distributors for life science and medical fields. He has a lot of experience and a great ability to respond to clients’ needs and new developments.

“We are very excited and confident about creating this brand-new position in India. We believe Ashim is an excellent addition to LTE’s team, as we increase our global activities and our investment in equipment design and manufacturing, customer service and training.”

Autoclaves That Don’t Cost The Earth

Designed and built in the UK, the LTE Touchclave-ecotech autoclave combines a high level of standard features with exceptionally low energy and water usage. Having responded to increasing customer demands to reduce their carbon footprint and utility costs, the Touchclave-ecotech is simply the most technically advanced and ‘greenest’ multi-purpose autoclave of its type.

The ecotech range currently comprises 2 x front loading models of 40 and 60-litres, both of which can be bench mounted, plus a 60-litre top-loading model with low loading height.

ecotech’s unique external steam generation system saves both water usage and energy. No more waiting for water reservoirs to heat up as the new ecotech starts delivering steam in around a minute, resulting in efficient cycle times and important energy savings.

Further energy savings are achieved thanks to LTE’s innovative methods for harnessing and recycling the heat energy within the system, and also by using the cooled condensate water during the cooling phase to supplement the effect of the external fans. Both these unique systems have patents pending.

The single piece 316L grade stainless steel pressure vessel is completely seamless providing a smooth and clean interior.
ecotech’s door locking system automatically draws the door closed, applying the right amount of pressure to achieve a positive seal every time. At the end of the cycle, the door is opened via the touchscreen.
Auto-fill and auto-drain is a standard feature ensuring that each cycle starts with a clean charge of water.

At the heart of the new ecotech range is LTE’s intuitive new icon driven TFT colour touchscreen control system which comes with 8 programmable cycles as standard. This is optionally expandable.
All cycles are customer configurable and can be programmed at the machine interface or on a PC using LTE’s ‘Smart Create’ software, and then downloaded into the autoclave memory via the built-in USB port.
The TFT touchscreen not only displays temperatures and pressure but also cycle stage data and in-cycle messages, thus giving the user a complete overview of cycle progress and status.
The facility for remote data archiving of cycles via Ethernet connection to a PC is supplied on all machines. ecotech includes internal data archiving as standard and all data can be uploaded to a USB Ffash drive

When ecotech isn’t in use, it will automatically go into one of its sleep modes, effectively going to ‘standby’ and drawing minimal power. Simply touching the screen will wake the system up. Alternatively, it can be programmed to wake up and start a cycle through the delayed start feature.

The result is that energy usage is reduced by up to 20%, water usage is reduced by 70% and cycles are anything up to 29 minutes faster, when measured against comparable systems.

Energy savings are not limited to the cycle efficiency. Manufacturing methods deliver further savings. For example, the way our new pressure vessel is manufactured uses 80% less power than traditional fabrication methods. Our packaging is eco-friendly, and the fact that ecotech is the lightest machine in its class means that less fuel is needed to deliver the product.

Reduce Your Electricity Bill

LTE Scientific, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of laboratory equipment has just launched its new eco-drying cabinet range for glassware, offering massive energy savings when compared to conventionally constructed glassware drying cabinets.

In tests, the DL100E used only 0.1kWh to get from 22°C to 60°C and then only 0.125kWh thereafter to maintain that temperature. At a constant 75°C the DL100E only used 0.188kWh.

Available in 4 sizes from 100 to 1000-litres, the eco-drying cabinet range is fully insulated on 5 sides and supplied with glass sliding doors or double glazed doors, depending on the model chosen.

Digital temperature control, a 7 day timer and 2-year warranty come as standard on all models.

LTE’s hygienic Sterling anti-bacterial coating is used on all the outer casings, whilst all interiors are manufactured from stainless steel.
